I always pull out my phone on dates and
take candid pictures of the guys I’m with.
When they ask why,
I tell them it’s because
I want to remember what it was like
to love someone without one foot
already out the door.
Before the kisses feel more like bite marks,
before ‘I’m sorry’ is etched into our features,
before ‘I love you’ tastes like ash on their tongues.
All good things come to an end,
and I am trying my best
to make peace with it.
